Paintings

 

Bernadina’s atmospheric landscape paintings reflect the abstract qualities of patterns of light combined with natural and man-made features, and capture the spirit of a place and time. Her work investigates colour, proportion and space, and the textures and layers of information revealed by looking at the world from above or from a distance, wherever she spends time, in the UK and abroad.

Sussex and Kent

 

Landscapes from Dungeness to Hythe, a sequence in acrylic on canvas celebrating the colours and space of the Romney marshes as seen from the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, and acrylics on board or canvas, showing views of the South Downs near Ditchling.

Mixed Media

 

The works below use acrylics on canvas, antique fabrics and lace, paper lace, hand-stitching and hand-made paper and are part of a sequence that explored images of pain and isolation following life-saving surgery.
